Overview

The technology behind the Duke HotColdFreeze™ provides both versatility and flexibility for your operation by allowing you to operate any well in Hot, Cold, or Freeze modes. Mix and match modes for ultimate menu flexibility. The DHCF is equipped to operate in hot dry, hot wet, cold dry, cold wet or freeze modes, both hot and cold modes are equipped with 10 presets that allow you to set your frequently used temperatures at the tap of a button.  

Equipped with digital screens, the DHCF controls are simple, intuitive and easy to use. Duke’s dry heat option keeps foods hot while saving time associated with filling and draining multiple wells with water. Typically seen in hot-well designs, the Duke HotColdFreeze’s design features a flush mount for all wells, bringing food theater closer to the customer while not compromising the integrity of the food. The flush mount makes access easy for customers to reach, and quick for staff to refill and clean. It looks good, it's easy to clean and it displays the food in the best possible way.  

The Duke HotColdFreeze™ is available in 1 – 4 well configurations and can be ordered in a new serving system or replace a current well configuration in your existing serving system. 

Intuitive Controls

The Duke HotColdFreeze™ features a digital interface with touch screen controls. These controls are simple, easy to use and easy to learn. Users are guided through the intuitive user interface with simplistic ease. Key actions can be located quickly with minimal touch points to change function.

Built into the hardware of the Duke HotColdFreeze’s features is control redundancy. Soon to be activated, control redundancy allows a well to continue working, being picked up by an adjacent well’s controller should the well’s original control fail. Redundancy is something you don’t see in this type of equipment. The Duke HotColdFreeze™ is also equipped with a built-in WiFi modem for future connectivity upgrades.

Easy to Service

The Duke HotColdFreeze™ is the first of its kind to offer a truly easy to service design. Featuring a pull-out compressor, the DHCF offers easily accessible controls and heating elements for routine care and maintenance should it need servicing. In addition to being easily replaceable, the simple bar style heating element and the control boards are low cost. Duke HotColdFreeze™ is completely serviceable within the counter, there is no need to remove a counters top to access key parts for upkeep or repair.

How long does it take for the wells to reach hot, cold or frozen states? How long does it take to convert them from one mode to another?
Estimated Conversion Times (Minutes) Ambient to Hot Dry 10-15 Ambient to Hot Wet 45-60 Ambient to Cold 30-40 Ambient to Freeze 45-60 Hot to Cold 40-60 Hot to Freeze 60-80. NOTE: If water is in the unit, it should be drained prior to switching the set point. Pans should be removed to help decrease the length of time it takes for a well to reach the new set point.
Do each of the wells of the Duke HotColdFreeze™ independently operate in any of the Hot, Cold and Freeze modes available?
Yes, the Duke HotColdFreeze™ provides versatility and flexibility for your operation by allowing you to operate any well in hot, cold, or freeze modes. Mix and match modes in any combination for ultimate menu flexibility.

I am switching from a wet mode to another mode, is there anything I need to do?
Always be sure to drain the water before switching a well containing water from one mode to another.
Will the wells experience heat/cooling transfer by being located next to each other?
There is no transfer between the wells. Hot says hot, cold stays cold, frozen stays frozen.
Why should I use dry heat over wet heat?
Wet heat is notorious for many issues that arise with water in a well, such as rust, clogs in the drain line, and safety concerns for the operator. Dry heat keeps moist foods, moist and delicious without the use of water eliminating common issues and concerns with the use of water.
Will dry heat hurt the food quality?
No, moist products hold just as well with our dry heat technology as they do with wet heat in our wells. Using dry heat eliminates the extra work and safety concerns associated with filling wells with water. Using water does not provide any advantage to the operator.
Is there an autofill option for the Duke HotColdFreeze™?
There is not an autofill option at this time. We will evaluate this as a future feature depending upon demand.
Is there a water connection options as well? Does this unit have the option for a water connection?
No, the Duke HCF does not have an autofill connection on its own. However, a fill faucet can be added to the counter next to one side of the unit.
Is the Duke HotColdFreeze™ available without the drain manifold?
This feature is currently in development and will be released soon. Please speak to your Duke representative for updates.
Are drawings available in KCL or Revit?
Revit models available in KCL and AutoQuotes. 2D CAD drawings also being added.
